BBartlett
I want to use a table in my kitchen while waiting for the oil based polyurethane to fully cure. I understand that it should take two weeks to cure. Is that correct? If so, will using it while we wait cause any problems? Thanks for your thoughts. wtnhighlander
The container should have usage instructions. Typically, poly can be put to "light use" after 24 hours, but may still be soft-ish, and still releasing vapors. It will smell, snd be easier to damage until it is fully cured. If you are willing to risk that, it is possible to restore a mildly scratched finish with polishing compounds and a buffer (or elbow grease). BBartlett
Thanks, I have three coats of poly and it will have been sitting for four days before I start using it. The container only states to let it set for 24 hours before light use. Nothing about full cure. I plan to go ahead and use it. Carefully!
