jolaode Posted May 15, 2024 Report Posted May 15, 2024 Why is solid sport flooring the best choice for ensuring maximum stability in sports venues? When it comes to creating the ideal environment for sports activities, the flooring material plays a crucial role in athlete safety and performance. Because I want to request a replacing basketball court in my daughter's school to increase game play the team. Thank you! Quote
robertdyck Posted May 27, 2024 Report Posted May 27, 2024 I think solid sport flooring provides excellent shock absorption, which helps reduce the impact on athletes' joints and muscles during intense physical activities. This cushioning effect contributes to athlete safety and minimizes the risk of injuries. Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted May 27, 2024 Report Posted May 27, 2024 I remember seeing a gymnasium floor being installed. It might have been for gymnastics, not basketball. It was called a "sprung floor". It looked like a regular hardwood floor from above, but underneath was some sort of springy support structure. This was a loong time ago and I wasn't really paying attention, but I seem to recall it was being installed by specialists and was pretty expensive. So, don't assume that the current floor is hardwood over subfloor over joists. It might be a sprung floor. And if you want to replace a regular floor with something better, I'd guess that the most important thing is to put some sort of shock absorbing support under the hardwood. [edit: springy, not spongy. You want the floor to give the energy back to the person, not absorb it.] Better yet, do some googling, because I really don't know what I'm talking about. I found this article. 1 Quote
