comp56
I’m thinking about adding some heavy-duty equipment to my woodworking operation and came across a few used excavators on Boom & Bucket. While they specialize in construction equipment, I’m curious if anyone here has experience purchasing from them. The prices seem fair, and they offer a warranty, but I’m wondering about the reliability and condition of the machines. Has anyone used a Boom & Bucket excavator for logging, clearing land, or other woodworking-related tasks? Any insights on performance and durability would be greatly appreciated! Tom King
I've been looking at getting one too, but no experience or even research from the online companies like that. If you don't know how to evaluate one yourself, the first thing to look at is the number of hours. Personally, I'd visit the nearest dealers to decide which one will be the best to get parts and service from. If there was one on those sites that fitted what I want and not too far away, I wouldn't hesitate to get it. I've about decided to get a new one. There are things I want specifically that aren't that easy to find in a low hour used one. We have good John Deere, and Cat dealers not too far away, and a Kubota dealer a little bit farther. I'd rather get one made in the USA, but have about decided on a Cat (built in China) simply because of the cruise control. I'll be moving one often enough that's not far enough to bother with a trailer, but far enough to be aggravating having to hold the levers or foot pedals down. Renting one to get a feel for the size that you need is a worthwhile thing to do. I've spent enough time in rental units that I feel like I know what I want. The heaviest one we can rent around here is a 35.

Popular Post Tom King
I have to wait. I have at least a years work to do before I really need an excavator. My Wife says if I get one now, I won't do anything else but run it for several months. It's not that she says I can't get one. She's just right.
