Popular Post legenddc Posted October 29, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted October 29, 2024 I keep meaning to make an oven rack puller for our toaster oven/air fryer since we don't keep an oven mitt near it. Anyone have a design they've made in the past that they like and could share? I figure if I'm going to make one this close to Christmas I might as well batch out at least a half dozen. 3 Quote
Popular Post Woodworking_Hobby Posted October 31, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted October 31, 2024 This might be a little larger than what you need for the toaster oven but maybe you can scale it down or gives you a design idea. This caught my eye and is in my “to build” list so I cannot say how well it works. Will be interested to see what you end up making and if I need to adjust my future build. https://www.fouroakscrafts.com/make-an-oven-rack-push-pull-stick/ 3 1 Quote
Popular Post legenddc Posted December 21, 2024 Author Popular Post Report Posted December 21, 2024 Wasn’t planning to make these today but needed to make something. Still need to sand and finish still. Will let you know how they work once we use them some. 6 Quote
Popular Post Mark J Posted December 21, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 21, 2024 I think something like that would actually sell. 3 Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted December 21, 2024 Report Posted December 21, 2024 I asked all the cooks I know whether they'd want an oven rack puller as a gift, and they all said, "no". One said, It'd be worth trying if it was the size of two chop-sticks side-by-side. Not enough space in the kitchen for unnecessary stuff. 1 Quote

We wanted one to keep next to the air fryer toaster oven combo so we can pull out the tray when we toast something without biting our hands or getting an oven mitt. Kids might use it on the oven since they’re small and can’t reach far. If no one else uses them that’s fine. It was scrap wood and they get the pleasure of being annoyed at me every time they open the drawer they keep it in. 2 Quote
Tom King Posted December 21, 2024 Report Posted December 21, 2024 Thanks! I know what I can make for Pam for Christmas now. 2 Quote
Popular Post Von Posted December 21, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted December 21, 2024 Perhaps a patent, perhaps a stupid idea, but after I pull out the over rack, a seemingly common next thing I will want to do is grab whatever is on the rack. Can the puller be combined with a oven mitt in some way? Or a cooke sheet grabber? Suddenly I feel like I'm on a late night infomercial.... 2 2 Quote
Popular Post Sempify Posted July 3 Popular Post Report Posted July 3 I made something similar a while back and used a chunk of hickory scrap—it holds up great to the heat. I’ve also been using an Invisacook Induction Cooktop lately, and since it heats through the countertop, anything close by needs to be heat-resistant. So I’d go with a hardwood and skip soft woods like pine. A little mineral oil keeps it from drying out near heat. 3 Quote
Popular Post fcschoenthal Posted July 4 Popular Post Report Posted July 4 We had the granddaughters (13 & 10) this week, so I took them into the shop for a couple of projects. They made a couple of rack pullers on the scrollsaw. They were thrilled to make them and I was thrilled to see them involved. We made a couple of bird feeders out of cedar pickets too, but didn't get a shot of them before they were out the door. 8 Quote
Coop Posted July 4 Report Posted July 4 That’s cool. Both with the granddaughters involvement and the project! 1 Quote
