Popular Post gee-dub Posted March 23, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted March 23, 2025 Just a quick shout out to this inexpensive and handy little bugger. I had the opportunity to turn some of the salvaged rafters from our remodel into cleats for a packing crate. I don't use this thing often but I always do when using material that I have "recovered"; dumpster or otherwise . I did find a couple of nail pieces that could have cost me a tooth on the carbide bandsaw blade. This is not the first time this little guy has paid for himself. I use it so seldom I store it with the battery out but when I need it, he's there. Thanks to a few moments of checking I pulled the fragments and made some cleat stock without issue. I think the thing was about $20 back when I bought it. It is not much more now. Certainly cheaper than having a tooth re-brazed or a band replaced 6 Quote
fcschoenthal Posted March 24, 2025 Report Posted March 24, 2025 A metal detector is probably the one thing that I don't have, but this one looks inexpensive enough to get one (currently $35). I don't usually have the need for one, but with a SawStop, one can't be too careful. 1 Quote
oldman_pottering Posted June 13, 2025 Report Posted June 13, 2025 I have one from Amazon that works quite well, not used all that often so stored battery less as gee-dub does I think even for people with SawStop saws it would be cheaper to have one of these than to replace the cartridges or whatever it is that goes off 2 Quote
