Les Baron Posted December 26, 2025 Report Posted December 26, 2025 I have the plans for Marc and Brian's assembly table, version #1. I want to put casters on it so I can move it around. Two questions: what casters would be best to use and do I need 4 or 6 casters? The table has 6 legs. Thanks Les 1 Quote
Popular Post wtnhighlander Posted December 26, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted December 26, 2025 Do you want fixed-height casters, or retractable? In either case, I would personally prefer swivels at all 6 legs, but keep in mind that a 6 leg table is more sensitive to floor variations, and likely to rock after it is moved. If you only move it occassionally, maybe casters at the corners, and adjustable feet in the middle, would be better. 3 Quote
Mark J Posted December 27, 2025 Report Posted December 27, 2025 Casters on the 4 corners can work if they are the full retracting type such that the table stands on it's legs when not being moved (and the table is unloaded when moved). If the floor is uneven I tend to use shims. 2 Quote
Von Posted December 27, 2025 Report Posted December 27, 2025 Welcome to the forum. I would try 4 first just because I suspect it will be a pain to get six coplanar. In terms of brand, I'm currently sold on the Bennington's. I was skeptical at first because they were all over YT in that paid-influencer fashion, but they walk their walk. 1 Quote
Beechwood Chip Posted December 27, 2025 Report Posted December 27, 2025 I tried this type and they didn't work for me. They relay on then pressure from the bench to the floor to keep them in position, so when I went over a ramp or an uneven section of floor they flop under the leg and get in the way. Probably work fine if you have reasonably even floors. 1 Quote
