Screamer777
HI Will You bought yourself a very nice pair of bubinga boards. They have a very nice figure. Now I am curious. Here in South Africa we use the metric system. I recently bought 5 bubinga boards. They measure 2.2meters long by 150 cm wide by 25 cm thick. Converted to feet and inches, they are 7.217 feet long, 59.055 inch wide and about an inch thick. One board cost me R140.00. (South African rand.) Converted to dollars it is $18.5058. If I do the calculation myself I would pay $50 for that two boards here in South Africa. If I am correct I think I can consider myself lucky to get them at this price. The only bummer is they do not have wider boards than 60 ". Johan
wleingang
Yeah Johan, it's a lot more expensive over here. But I bet Quartersawn White Oak is a pretty penny out there!
Screamer777
You are quite right. All the American wood for that matter is very expensive here...even red oak. The cherry on the cake is, oh well, cherry. I love to work with that wood, but it is outrageous expensive.
