SomeGuyNamedPaul
If the guard is in the way then you probably need to figure out a better way to make the cut. That's generally my sanity check. There are some operations that you simply cannot do with the guard in the way, but I make those the sharp minority. Sure it's time-consuming, but not as time consuming as trying to accomplish daily life with mangled nubs. FYI, the Kreg push stick is about as narrow as they come. http://www.kregtool.com/MultiPurpose-Push-Stick-Prodview.html
suiciedchild
I don't actually have one for my saw, but I would like to get one, I have an old AMT 10" contractor saw , when I purchased it from a cabinet shop that was closing the guy handed me the blade guard and riving knife, after I carried the 300 lb saw down to my basement and tried to put it on, I realized it was not the correct one for my saw. So if anyone know where I can get one , please send me a message. After watching the "kickback" video on newwoodworker.com I'm alot more hesitant to even use it for any cut. SomeGuyNamedPaul
Riving knife I can't understand removing. I've had to pull mine once for raising the blade through a board which is a pretty uncommon operation. If you have it permanently set at just below blade height then what can it possibly get in the way of? Worst thing I can think of is a shop-made ZCI. If you're going through the trouble of making a ZCI yourself then you're obviously capable of putting in the slot.
