Planer Sled

I recently made the planer sled featured in FWW with the changes that Charger suggested. It worked really well and will be a nice addition to my other jigs. I did drill some extra holes for the supports so I could use it for a shorter board.

For rigidity and stability purposes, I am sold on a torsion box base for a super solid and true base. I think this will be my model.

Charger suggested using hardwood for the supports used under the wood you are cutting. And doweling them to the sled, I used 3\8 dowels and a 1\2 hole in the support rails. also make sure you use the rubber kind of anti-slip materal. I think someone also suggested using laminate shelves for the bottem and a plain mdf shelf for the top part.
