This is a desk for my Mother-in-law. To work out the style, I started by finding pictures of different styles of desks that I could email (a distance problem). She decided on a writing desk style. Then I started the sketch, scan, and email phase to nail down leg style, drawers, etc. Although she was going to push the desk into a corner, I decided to finish all sides of the desk.
I also made a chair that she didn’t know about. A fun little project, but the hardest part was the upholstery. The first seat cushion we used was too thick, and we didn’t pull as tight as we should when we stapled the material. But the second one was easier, from stretching the webbing to the final staple.
It was a good thing she wanted straight legs because the floor was not level. I brought along adjustable feet and was able to hide them inside the desk legs.
