Sliding Dead Dude over by the Glide

Fred West

As you can see the top of the Glide is too low for the height of the bench top. I have a beautiful piece of ebony that I am going to attach to the top via a sliding dovetail to reach the requisite height. The Glide was made to scale based upon a bench top height of four inches. However, I was able to pick up some very old growth Santa Maria wood from Belize. My friend Rich Petty who owns Greener Lumber has the rights to seven rivers and a lagoon in Belize and these are filled with old growth Mahogany, Santa Maria, Bullett Tree, Carribean Pine and others. He also has all the permits to bring all of this into the United States. The jist of this is that my bench top will now be five inches high and will weigh approx. 300 lbs. by itself.
