Beechwood Chip
I liked this one for my Dewalt. It's not a laser, it's a bright point-source white LED. It functions as a work light, but the saw blade casts a shadow on the work, so you can see exactly where the sides of the kerf will be. I do have to pull the saw down a little to get a sharp shadow. poss
Do you have experience with the Irwin model? I have one on my DeWalt and have had pretty good luck with it.

dkennedy
I've used several on several different types of saws. I've not found one that was accurate enough for the cuts I make on a power miter saw... but I always have one installed. Radial Arm and Power Miter saws scare the jeebeezus out of me, and the laser is a really nice, very obvious warning that something important is about to get lopped off... Normally when I am using the miter saw (current is a 12" Dewalt) I've setup everything, measured and remeasured to make sure everything is square (or 45 or whaterver) and the measurement is dead on. I don't trust my eyes or the even minimally blurry edge of the laser line to guide a cut on anything but construction projects. For construction I've found that any adjustable laser is OK, as long as the edge is not blurry... but I seem to keep adjusting them all the time which minimizes their utitliy for actual measurement. <edited. I can't spell the first time> <edited again... like I said...>
