Basshunter Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Hello All, I have been busy getting my shop set up and have discovered what I think is a problem with my new (to me) Jet DC. I am feeling a lot of air movement around the union of the impeller shroud and the motor. It is air blowing out not air sucking into the machine. I am not sure if this is just the air escaping from the motor housing or if it is coming from the impeller. As I have never had a DC before, I have no reference as to if this is normal. I also am seeing small piles of dust build up under the bag in just below this area. This makes me think there is a leak somewhere in the housing of the impeller and the connection to the motor. I hope this makes sense... Should I be feeling air blowing near the motor of the DC? What could be the cause of the small piles of dust under the bag (could be a leak in the seal of the bag I suppose). Thanks in advance for your help! Basshunter Quote
MatthewCremona Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 The air blowing near the motor could be from the motor cooling fan. That's how my Powermatic DC is. Quote
Andrew Pritchard Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 What do you all think of the idea of lighting a match relatively close to the unit, and seeing where the smoke goes? Quote
