BuilderBill Posted July 2, 2014 Report Share Posted July 2, 2014 Some of you younger folk won't recognize that phrase at all, some of you will recall the TV show bearing the name and hosted by Bill Cosby, those of you in my age group will remember Art Linkletter's segment on his show, God rest his soul. We love you, Art! I was having a discussion with my youngest kid tonight(although she's 26, has 2 Bachelors and is working on a Masters she's still my youngest kid) about James Barrat's book on AI(whole 'nother thread). I mentioned that Wall Street was the most likely procreator of real AI given their resources and their ever-increasing investment in high-frequency trading algorithms. Had to do a brief explanation that HFT is done by computers in milliseconds and the object is to make money regardless of the result to the stocks traded or the rest of the market. Her reply: "Well, isn't that the Wall Street motto: Make money no matter who gets screwed?".
