John Bruce
I work with reclaimed woods for furniture. Mostly pine, occasionally oak and poplar. This is 100 year old construction lumber and barnwood. I am looking for help on how to dry lumber. i build tables and am new to it and have had an issue with shrinkage in my table tops. i would like input on the proper way to dry pine to 6%-8% mc to avoid shrinkage while not twisting warping all of my stock. i am trying to keep the old school milling saw marks in tact visually. How long should i be drying heart pine, at what temp etc
Brendon_t
What % Mc are they currently sitting at? How do you plan on drying them, Dehumidification kiln, solar kiln? do you have a kiln or are you building one? Once you get the wood, are you allowing it to properly acclimate to your environment before you build? Some clarification will help with better answers.
