tung oil

I have a guy that has been repairing and refinishing furniture for me for years.. Lately I am having a problem that neither of us can figure out. He has refinished several tables with tung oil, which at first are fine. After I deliver tables to my client, and she puts felt pads underneath legs or bases of items sitting on the tables. After a few days a dull spot appears where the felt rests on the tables. It appears as if the tung oil has dried out at this point. Several tables, including a large dining table have these marks, and even after re-doing tops, the same thing happens in a short time.  Help!!!

Tung oil takes forever to cure.  Like 3 or 4 weeks, if not more. It will feel dry but needs much longer to cure.  That assumes he is using pure tung oil.  Lots of stuff is marketed as "tung oil finish."  That stuff is usually a mix of varnish and oil.  The varnish helps it cure more quickly, but I'd still wait a week or two before putting it into service.
