JosephThomas
I understand from experience that some woods, like cherry, darken with age and/or sun exposure, and some species, like walnut, lighten. Does anyone know which direction the following species tend to go with more sunlight / age? Honduran mahogany African mahogany Sapele I would like to know for an upcoming project, trying to pick between these species (potentially a mix of 2 of them). shaneymack
Honduran definitely darkens. Id assume the same for the other 2 Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk
Eric.
They all darken. The HM and sapele turn more of a burgundy-brown while the AM stays more of a pure brown without dye. But all three will darken. The HM has the deepest and richest color of the three.
phinds
Just FYI, there is an article on my site on wood changing color over time: http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/_color change/index.htm
