tomcoleman1
I am a newbie aspiring to make personalized boxes for 10 grandkids. Recently retired and bought a router table w jessum lift and a dewalt scroll saw and now I want to add a dovetail jig. I like the Keller for price, simplicity and learning curve. I am only interested in thru dovetails and variable spacing is not important to me. I'll probably buy the 1500 unless I find a great buy on 1601 on ebay My question: Can the keller be used on the router table like a Gifkins jig? This approach for thru dovetails on small boxes looks like a real winner. For those of you who have not seen the Gifkins jig, you insert the desired bit with bearing at the top into your router table. Attach the piece to be cut to a comb template jig which then makes its cuts by having the bearing follow the template contours. I believe that Katie jig from Sommerfield tool does the same thing.
