Traditional construction classes

Recommended Posts

I know there are several woodworking schools and academies that offer various classes from weekend workshops to full graduate programs. Clearly there are some online guld/ instruction here offered by Shannon and Marc- (What's the deal, Matt? Let's get that fan club up and running!) But I am interested in classes that deal with larger scale projects, like timber frame structures and traditional joinery techniques for buildings. Most of the instruction I see is at the furniture project scale or smaller. Does anybody know which programs offer instruction or workshops in traitional woodworking structure design and construction?

Thanks,

Andy

Andy, you said: “…I am interested in classes that deal with larger scale projects, like timber frame structures and traditional joinery techniques for buildings.”

Assuming you’re not looking for a school of carpentry, and are focusing on timber frame and post and frame, then I dredged up a few links below that you can look through. I know there are more out there, but this will give you something to look at to see if they are anywhere near what you had in mind. I don’t know anything about these classes and schools.
