dizz
Hi Guys, long time creeper -1st time poster I'm about to put a finish on these stave drums I built and am open to any and every suggestion there is when it comes to the tiger maple and the surface I am finishing. What I mean when I say surface is the shape of the drum is a cylinder so it's not a flat plane I am working with here. The wood is not bent -it's shaped. I have finished a kit before that I built but that was red oak. Very different wood. Besides, I could have done that set a lot better than I did. I'd like to stain these (or dye) and put a durable high gloss type of top coat on these. Again, if you have an idea that will really make these pop and look great, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance and much respect to your woodsdom
dizz
Also, is it possible to use an alcohol based dye, then let it completely evaporate, then follow up with an oil based stain?
