Sandeply Question

I've used it on a couple of projects. Pretty much the only reasonable plywood our Home Depot had for a while. I'm pretty sure the veneer on the outside is Banak. It smells kinda pine-ish or cedar-ish when you cut it. It's listed as 'hardwood' ply, but barely. Finishing is a bit intersting, as the grain is 'fuzzy' I sanded it up to 220 and and finished with a water based poly... ended up sanding most of that off and still didnt knock down the fuzz/rough texture. Not sure how it behaves with oil, but even without the grain raising from the water it never really smoothed up.
