tim0625
I have some O1 Steel flat bar and am thinking about making some of my own tools. Anyone made some? Unique specialty tools maybe? Do you have any pictures?
duckkisser
a side scraper is useful for inside thin boxes, a large bowl scraper comes in handy when roughing out a bowl. if its thin you can grind it into a skew, then drill a hole in the blade and grind off the tip then you have a captive ring tool. tim0625
The other day, i bought a bag of over sized 1/4" washers. It's about the size of a quarter and also, it's a thick washer...much thicker than normal. I put one on a 1/4 bolt and secured it with two jam nuts and mounted it in the drill press. I put a file on it to sharpen the edge to about 45 degrees. Then I drilled and tapped a piece of 7/16 square stock and mounted the washer on that. It's no carbide cutter but it did cut really well! Probably won't last long. Along the same lines, wonder if I can take a piece of the O1 and do the same thing? In this thread, I'm wondering if anyone has made things like bowl gouges and some unique skews...things like that or any other specialty tools?
