Here is Tony Konovaloff's tool chest (there is a vintage FW article on this chest as well).  It's not suited for traveling, but you might want to look at the last photo for a strategy to support the open lid which you would scale down.

IMO this chest is every bit as brilliantly arranged as the Studley chest, maybe better.  The FW article covers this in more detail.  Some might find the Konovaloff chest (and tools therein) more relevant in that it represents the kit of an active professional furnituremaker who works entirely by hand, rather than that of an employee who worked in a piano factory.
