mapleman
Hi Folks, here are some pics of my sawmill, which has the benefit of being mobile. They are made by a company called 'Lucas Mills'in Victoria,Australia. Can produce slabs up to 1.5m wide, boards up to 215mm wide(newer model can do 250mm)and 6m long.A brilliant piece of aussie machinery,i reckon!!Cheers Mapleman
PaulMarcel
Wow, very cool. Would love to see it in action. While I wouldn't call it super portable, I could see it breaking down to a reasonable size for a pickup truck. Were those pictures on-site where the log was located or is that the mill's field? If that's the mill, how do you guys move those logs into position? (or are Aussies just that tough to toss them on their shoulder and plop it where you need it?!) I am Big and I am tough but I still use a forklift. I raise the rails up and roll the log under if it will fit or take the rail off ( Easy )and place it in with the forklift. A crowbar and a cant-hook help me to position the log. It is portable an could be positioned over a log but I find it easier to move the logs to the mill.
