PhilipShie
Recently I came across this picture of a wall mount bookshelf, just the picture without an explanation or details. I might be interested in building this. I was wondering how the ash shelves stay put... it is simple a deep dado groove? Would appreciate any comment. Thanks. Tried attaching the picture but didn't seem to work... picture available here: www.nonoyaya.com/projects/shelf.jpg Phil
PaulMarcel
(just click the "insert photo" button on the tool bar -- right of the smiley by 2 -- and put the URL... it needs the HTTP prefix) That's a cool set of shelves. Would make for a great wall. Seems it would need a way to attach to the wall more than simply being pushed into the dados. Would have to think about it (and maybe zoom the picture )
rivendale34
Well, with those grooves built into the wall, you wouldn't need hardware to attach it as long as the groove is reasonably deep 1/2 - 1 in and snug fitting to the wood. It's alsmost akin to a french cleat where the weight of the shelf and items on it help keep it in place.
KRAM121881
I have seen a shelf like this. The one that I saw the grooves on the wall were not just dado's they were sliding dovetails the shelves slipped in from the edge of the wall panel and intersected holding them in place. This allowed for any number of shelf location changes.
