A_Vitale
So guys I have decided to build a roubo bench. I will post pictures as well as my progress as I start this project. But I am seeking some advice... What wood screw for the leg vise would everyone recommend? As far as finding nice solid timber to build the bench from do you guys recommend picking up some 6x6 pine at hd or lowes? Having only built my past benches from laminated maple I am concerned with the pine being too soft though others have done it? Is most everyone building there own deadman and is it necessary to the leg vise?

jlloydparks
Right now unless you make your own wood screw Lake Erie Toolworks is the only supplier of wooden screws. Big Wood Vise is still on hiatus. I have a double screw Big Wood Vise on my bench and it is awesome. I would definitely put another wood screw on another bench. That being said Benchcrafted makes some nice stuff, I have their wagon vise on a bench as well.
