gardnesd
Thanks man, this is a big help in making a decision on a shoulder plane.
woodcanuck
Thanks for posting the link Mike. If you've got any questions, shoot, it was dead easy to put together and it works very nicely. I'm really happy with it.
gardnesd
Thanks for posting the link Mike. If you've got any questions, shoot, it was dead easy to put together and it works very nicely. I'm really happy with it. Just looking for something to shape up tenons with. Is this thing too wide? I read that it's 1 1/4. Didn't look that big in your vids.
woodcanuck
It's 3/4" wide...it would work just fine on tuning up tenons.
gardnesd
Hey, It's done. I love it. I do have a question. It was necessary to plane the two sides a little. This left the iron a little wider than the plane. So do I need to grind the iron down to parallel with the plane?

This left the iron a little wider than the plane. So do I need to grind the iron down to parallel with the plane? Try it out a few times on a variety of scraps. If the blade extending outside the mouth is causing it to cut poorly, then you might want to, but personally I'd try to keep it as is.....but then maybe I'm just lazy.
