russjohnson
For hardwood lumber there is a dealer in Buda Mason's Mill http://www.masonsmillandlumber.com/. I have not done business with them but they are friendly and seem to have good prices. In Austin I do business with Fine Lumber of Austin http://www.finelumber.com/. Good luck with you finds. I haven't been to Mason's Mill, but I did recon of Fine Lumber and Plywood in Austin recently. I didn't purchase anything, and let them know up front that I was just getting a lay of the land and seeing what was available. Not only did they have no problem with me wandering the stacks, one of the guys in the office took the time to show me around and explain the differences in their stock, taking almost 20 minutes to do so, I suspect he was either the manager or owner from some of the stuff he said. They'll be getting my business when it's time to buy wood for a project. That said they're going to have a limited selection of lumber in the size John specified if he wants 2"x10" finished lumber. According to their website, they have S4S 2"x12" in Douglas Fir, all the other available lumber that thickness is 8/4 S2S or thicker, which would require jointing and planing. khill
I usually buy at Fine Lumber and Plywood. Every time I have gone there, they have been extremely helpful.
