fiddleboyster
Any tips for me as I attempt to veneer a swamp ash body plank with some beautifully figured flame maple veneer? The veneer is two bookmatched pieces, and its for an electric guitar body. What glue should I use? I've heard lots of varying opinions and I've never done this before. thanks in advance. I use Unibond 800 when I glue figured or exotic veneers to a solid wood substrate. I have some pieces in my home that are 7-8 years old and they are holding up fine. I also tend to veneer the backside of the substrate to even out the panel's moisture behavior. Unibond 800 gives a really strong and inflexible bond. It's available from Vacuum Pressing Systems
iSawitFirst
If the veneers are thick enough, say around 1/16", I use regular PVA glue. Unibond 800 has a lower moisture content and is best on mill-cut, 1/40" veneers but I find that regular PVA works fine on thicker ones.
