outofstepper
hi t-bone. Though I'm new to woodworking, sharpening is old hat. Unfortunately I don't think you'll find one answer to tackle all those things.. usually each tool has a whole slew of sharpening "solutions". Get a generic sharpening guide (honing guide) to handle your chisels, plane irons, flat stuff, etc. Drill bits I do free hand on a bench grinder with a fine wheel. Buy a cheap set of drill bits and practice. Those drill doctors usually don't do a good job. For forstner bits -- will a file even bite into those things? If so just use the right size file that fits into the teeth. Get a new one to compare angles with. Mine are HSS, I think. They still cut, but when the time comes, I'll use a V shaped small grinding wheel on the bench grinder. hope that helps. -Tony
