nikbrown
I know Marc uses that monster pattern cutting bit from William Ng (http://thewoodwhisperer.com/103-flush-trim-bits/) I have no idea of the cost. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's lusted after that bit.... sigh. Darral Peart posted this a couple days ago: a concoction of Bob Van Dyke and Will Neptune of CVSW http://darrellpeart.blogspot.com/2011/03/woodworkers-bag-of-tricks.html I did a basic price break down and it looks like it would be about: $36 for the bit $10 x 2 for the bearings and $5 for the Collar so for around $60-$65 it looks like a decent alternative even with a bit less capacity. (again no idea how much Marc's William Ng bit is, but i'm guessing much more)
PaulMarcel
William's is $130 IIRC (or very close to that, shipped). I don't recall if William's is up-spiral or down-spiral. Collars and bearings are handy to have around; Eagle America sells a boxed kit with several for different shanks and offsets; definitely worth the little extra over the $25 projection you have for those two bearings. Just search EA for 'collar' and 'bearing' and you'll see the variety of kits.
