armstrdm
I'm wondering what kind of grain filler or paste filler you guys use for solvent based finishes. In the past I've always made my own when using a waterbased or oil based finish. I'm using a lot of poplar at the moment that's destined for a S-W CAB lacquer finish. Any suggestions on what I could use for leveling out the pores?
wingarob
Drywall mud .. not the premixed, but the "setting" type that comes as a powder to which you add water. I've used this for a LONG time, and it works great. If you doo use the premixed, it MAY take 2 coats as it is prone to shrinking ... the powdered stuff won't. TimV
Am I missing something here? Poplar doesn't have pores that need filling....does it? Tim
