Geymonatjuan
Hi I have a few 1" diameter chestnut branch pieces ( bark included) that were part of some custom chairs. I would like to straighten them up to reuse in another application. They are 16" long. I'd never done something like this and I appreciate any advice I might get
Tobbe Arnesson
Perhaps you can steam un-bend them? Just like steam bending but making sure they are straight as they dry. You could either strap them on to something straight or hang them so they carry a weight of some sort (making the weight pull them straight). That is; attach one end to some sturdy girder and let it hang straight down. Attach a weight in the bottom end to pull on the branch. Google steam bending to get steaming times, it would probably work the best if you take the bark off first (unless you want to keep it). duckkisser
with my limited experience i might sugest you remember that wood tends to move back to its original position so build acordingly it might only move slightly but that can change you entire project and cause some problems.
