Davinci27
Hello Everyone, I'm new to this forum AND to wood finishing. I'm looking for a little guidance in achieving this finish, http://www2.snapfish.com/snapfish/slideshow/AlbumID=9292529013/PictureID=478182904013/a=89562097_89562097/otsc=SHR/otsi=SPIClink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish/ So I've been experimenting with some stains and have been able to reproduce the overall tone color. However, I can't make the grain "pop" as vivid as it looks in the picture, I know pic can affect this also, I want that nice contrast. I was thinking using a gel stain on the grain part and then staining with a water based stain for overall tone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You. dwacker
What are you using for wood? The set posted is Ash and Oak. Don

dwacker
I would start with Lockwood #92 dye and go from there. Don
AceHoleInOne
What products are you using for testing, please be specific. What is your surface prep..... any wash coats or sealer, what grit did you sand up too, any grain filling done?
dwacker
Id just give them a call, they are just in pheonix and are nice people. Its just WB dye and WB poly. They may be willing to sell you the exact color or you can get close with Lockwood. The grain pop come from the flat sawn veneers the color is called smoke grey.
