RJsumthn
I am new to woodworking and am about to start building a corner cabinet/entertainment center. It is going to be painted and I was wondering what wood will be best for the face frame and the door rails? I am building the rest with birch ply. Thanks - RJ
Texfire
Depends on availability in your area but poplar is an inexpensive hardwood for painted projects.
Jfitz
Alder is also a good candidate.
Keggers
Poplar takes paint very well.
JerrySats
Any of those make great FF's for painting . Poplar will be the softest of the hardwoods ,so think about that as well . A finger nail will dent it pretty easy , I only mention this because I'm doing a painted project using poplar and notice that it dents easy. Not so much after the finish as during the building stages .
