Ozwald
When I bought my house this summer there was a pile of random lumber in the basement. The vast majority of it was low quality trash, but I saved it anyways. I found a 5' or so length of 2x6 that had definitely seen better days. So I made a couple of blanks out of it & this was hiding inside. I was going to make the walls a bit thinner but there was a pretty significant crack & I didn't want to push my luck - the whole time sanding I could just see finishing up with 600 grit, going to touch it with oil & have it fly apart.

Ozwald
Thanks guys. It's sitting on the other section of the board that looks pretty useable, so it might get 2 more brothers. Might. Sanding that stuff is a royal PITA. I typically start with 180. This requires quite a bit of time with 60 because of the endgrain tear out. In fact I can sand hard maple from 180 to 600 in less time than just the 60 on this board.
chopnhack
Looks great Oz! Pine can be a pain to bring up to a sheen. You did really well with that one!!
