Beechwood Chip Posted May 16, 2014 Report Share Posted May 16, 2014 I'm trying to cut through 3/4" laminate counter top. Have been doing it with 2 passes with a smaller bit on a smaller router. Are you trying to "cut" using the router bit, hogging out all the material in the path of the bit? If so, I'd recommend rough cutting with a jig saw or band saw, and then use the pattern bit to clean up the edge and follow the pattern. When using a router to hog out material (for example, making a dado or a mortise), I'd make a lot of very light passes. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
