Dickychuck
Have a pine bed that has been sanded down to bare wood, and has had three thin coats of Boiled Linseed Oil applied. Is there a low sheen finish like water based satin polyurethane, that can be applied over the BLO.
wdwerker
Water based over BLO does require the oil to be completely dry ! This can take weeks after 3 coats depending on how thin they are. Temperature and humidity can affect drying time.
Trip
Whatever you want -- as long as it's dry... That can be three days, three weeks or three months.... I'd make-up a test board or three... Time course them...
Eric.
For future reference, skip the BLO on pine...it won't do anything except turn it yellow. BLO will bring out the richness of woods like walnut and cherry and other darker species, but it really has no positive effect on whiter woods.
