tomsworkbench
OK, how many people: 1) Own a lock miter bit? 2) Have successfully used a lock miter bit? 3) Routinely use one in construction? I have one and I have yet to figure out how the heck to get it to work. I have a couple of jigs and ge-gaws that may help... but I'm not holding out much in the way of hope. ba-doyn
I have a lock miter bit, and have been somewhat successful with it. I found the directions on the lee valley site to be much easier to read and understand than most I've found. Michael

PeteJr
You cannot, maybe I should say you should not, use that bit without a setup jig. Otherwise it's cruel and unusual punishment.
shinytoaster
I like mine a lot, setting up is not bad once you figure out where the center of the bit is. I do find though that glue can get trapped in there and cause the joint to get out of square. A parallel clamp and even glue spread produces good results.
