REM503
I was reading Woodsmith Tips and they recommend that a person use "service-tempered" pegboard, rather than regular pegboard. Is there some difference between "service-tempered" pegboard and the pegboard that is described as just "tempered" that you can find at Lowes and Home Depot? Any insight would be appreciated. Onboard
Pegboard, as you know, is simply Hardboard (or Masonite) with a matrix of holes drilled in it. This is the ANSI A135.4-2004 standard on hardboard. Page 6 shows how the different classes of boards are color coded. Page 8 shows that “Tempered” hardboard is stronger than “Service-Tempered” hardboard. Perhaps you were referring to this Woodsmith Tip. I’m not sure what the author was thinking when he recommend Service-Tempered pegboard. Maybe there was some other quality (as compared to tempered pegboard) that he had in mind. I don't know what quality that would be since I’m certainly not the hardboard/pegboard expert.
REM503
Thanks for your informative response. Looks like the 1/4" tempered pegboard that you can easily obtain at Lowe's or Home Depot is the way to go, rather than looking for more obscure, weaker "service-tempered" pegboard. Thanks again.
