mccawbird
i just bought a used table saw with a cast top... it's in pretty good shape but i just want to clean it up and apply some sort of wax. i'm looking for suggestions for products to use to clean it up (small amount of rust) and then wax it up... thanks
Beechwood Chip
Marc has a video on this, and there have been a few threads in this forum: New Table saw Protecting new Sawstop surface TABLE SAW TOP CLEANUP Rust on new Table Saw?? Polishing the Table saw video: 28- When the Dust Settles (jump to 7:11) (I searched for paste wax to find these threads. That's why paste and wax are highlighted in all the links. I just knew that any thread about what to use to protect a table saw would have paste wax in the thread.)
TimV
If there is a build up of rust, I use a razor blade to scrape the outer layer of rust off. Then I use an abraisive pad and elbow grease. Then after wiping the surface down with mineral spirits, I apply a heavy coat or two of Johnson's paste wax.
