None of the long grain joints sit flush with each other, intentionally, but damned if that doesn't make removing excess glue a pain in the tuckus. Any suggestions, folks? Beechwood Chip Posted August 8, 2010 Report Share Posted August 8, 2010 Mask off the exposed surfaces with masking (blue) tape before gluing? Or maybe mask off the glue surfaces, pre-finish, treat the finished surfaces with something like paraffin or vaseline (test to make sure it won't harm the finish), then remove the tape and glue the joint. DeanJackson Posted August 8, 2010 Author Report Share Posted August 8, 2010 Okay, I have two left to assemble, so I can give two of those a shot. - I can wax the area next to the glue lines, but how do I remove the wax? - I can prefinish the two pieces, taping off the part to be (later) glued. - I can tape off the area next to the glue lines.
