thewoodwhisperer
We made some changes recently to the Guild site. One important upgrade was our ability to list and link to any websites that blog about their Guild Builds. So if you have a blog series dedicated to ANY of our Guild Builds, please send me the link or simply post the link here in this thread. There is one caveat: You need to have that series in its own category. I don't want to simply link to your home page. In a few months, the relevant posts will be buried and the link won't make sense. So in order to be included in the blog list, you have to make use of categories. For something like the Split-Top Roubo build, I suggest a category called, "Split-Top Roubo". I have done this on my blog and you can see why this is useful here. I should also mention that if you don't want to make a category, consider using a consistent tag as an alternative. Then send me the link to that tag for inclusion in the list. Thanks everyone and I hope you enjoy the new site!
Torch02
Does it have to be a category, or can it be a tag?
Jim_WoodWarden
Marc, Here's a link to my Adirondack summer guild build blog posts: Sawkerf Blog Adirondack Chairs 2011 Summer Guild Build I need to finish it up - I set it aside when I got to the final assembly and sanding stage so I could work on holiday and birthday gifts (in my family there are five January birthdays so I end up with a massive set of builds for gifts at the end of every year). I will get back on these chairs and have them done in time to go on our deck for spring time and then I can get started on the split top roubo bench. thewoodwhisperer
Does it have to be a category, or can it be a tag? Tags will work too.
Mister Pants
Are you looking for it to be concurrent, or if doing it afterwards (for instance I'm thinking of the chest of drawers for the spare room, but it'll be a while before I start)? Also if it's inspired by, but not an exact build would you still be looking for those links?
thewoodwhisperer
As long as it is closely inspired by the Guild Build, it doesn't matter when you do it. The Guild builds are all still active so I'd like to continue adding resources to the pages.
Mister Pants
Works for me, I'm starting a blog not cause anyone's gonna read it (I mean it'd be cool if they did but that's not why I plan to) but it'll force me to get my butt into the shop. thewoodwhisperer
I find it a great way to keep a shop journal. And the added bonus is that people WILL read it and provide some feedback. But even as shop journal, its way better than a pencil and paper. Mister Pants
That too, I've often taken in progress pictures of stuff and thrown them up on my picture site for my own use, but committing to writing something, hopefully, will be the difference between getting into the shop and blowing up another rat in Eve
