NYHump
Hi All, I have this problem. I need to put in a stopped cove cut on some door frames, 3/8 cove. I set up my table router and set blocks to start and end the cut. Here's the problem, it's fine when I start the cut (a little grabbing) but when I push the board to the end stop I end up with tear-out. Any suggestions to avoid this? I have tried to take the cut in a few passes thinking that it was to much for 1 cut but it still had some tear-out at the end of the cut. Thanks NYHump
PaulMarcel
Try wrapping a piece of blue tape over the stop end so the tape helps hold the fibers in place instead of chipping out (if I'm understanding the problem correctly). Because the tape adds some thickness between your stock and the fence, you might want to add a couple other strips along the cut. If you don't, the tape would cause a slight nearly imperceptible taper.
