cs1245
Recently purchased RIKON air filtration system. Wondering which would be better in hanging the device from: 1) Make a wood frame and place the device in it OR 2) Hang it with an eye bolt and braided wire, thimble, and clamps
Southwood
I hung mine with eye bolts and "S" hooks. Once it was hung, I closed the hooks with a pair if pliers. I wanted it high as possible to save ceiling height.
PeteJr
I have living quarters above my workshop and wanted to reduce air cleaner vibrations from being transmitted to the floor above. Used 4 large steel Eye bolts and S hooks to hang each unit. Screwed and glued two 2x4's to the floor joists of the ceiling above. The 2x4's each span 3 floor joints and are perpinducular to them. They are spaced to line up with the mounting holes in the air cleaner cabinet. Next drilled oversize holes in the 2x4's for the eye bolts so the threaded portion of the eye bolt did not contact the side of the hole in the 2x4. Then used automobile shock absorber rubber bushings with large steel washers to isolate the eye bolt from the 2x4. This mounting technique will reduce vibrations transmitted to the floor above as opposed to mounting the cabinet directly to the joists.
