splinterking
Okay I just resawed about 18bf of cherry for my parents Christmas present and now of course I have a bow in most pieces. I've read about the causes of this, but my question. Is a bow of 1/32"-1/16" over a 36" length enough to worry about on a 1/2" board? I left enough material (started with 5/4) to plane off 1/16" to smooth out the surface on the resawn side so I've got a little something to play with. I'm building a wall clock so it's nothing big or anything that will have to handle any stress. Any advice would be great. I do have enough stock to start over, but I would rather salvage what I have, if possible. Thanks!
flairwoodworks
I would say "no", but it's really up to you. How you work and design the piece will determine what is suitable. For example, dovetails are able to better hold a warped board flat than a dado and rabbet.
