Richardwootton
I have yet to venture into the world of making hand planes, but I'm certainly entertaining the idea of doing so. Would turning blanks be good material to use for planes? I It seems like the stock would potentially be the right size, or close to it. What do ya'll think? wdwerker
A lot of those turning blanks are green wood that has been waxed or sealed. It could move, twist, shrink, crack etc. I haven't made any wooden planes but I know you need stable wood to do it. Just ask a lot of questions and find some experienced guidance picking the right blocks for a first plane. Maybe start with a kit?
