Workofwood
I'm building a new table for the family. And my wife really wants a maple and walnut table. The idea being to put a "runner" of walnut about 12" wide down the middle of the table sandwiched between two maple boards. My question is, can I make the legs out of walnut? Or should I stick with the maple? I'll do an exposed leg table? I'm worried that the walnut wouldn't be strong enough.
..Kev
You'll be fine with the walnut.
wtnhighlander
Walnut is plenty strong, and the color will look great with the top you described.
Marco Divetta
I agree, walnut will be strong enough and I think that the alternating pattern of walnut to maple and back to walnut will look nice.
