adambaum
im starting to do a lot more turning and really like the idea of airbrushing on finishes. My question is about equipment. Can I use an airbrush gun with my standard shop compressor or do really need one other is specific to airbrushing?
AceHoleInOne
Go to the box store and buy an automotive touch-up spray gun. Has a 1.0 needle and nozzle. Rocker and Woodcraft had those little Vapor guns (Its the gun on the left) around $20.00. Do it all the time on my lathe. I spray the General Finishes Wood Turners Finish which is water-based. You can dial that baby in and spray real fine. -Ace-
adambaum
Just so happens I am looking to spray the GF WTF. I have a Fuji Mini 3 spray system. Can I use it as the air source? Adam
AceHoleInOne
Why not!!!! You can turn the fan down to a small pattern on that rig can't ya? Just a word of advice. If the wood your going to coat is porous. Try using the Enduro Var first to fill the grain. Finish off with the WTF. You dont have to but the WTF is very thin and will take a lot of coats with porous woods. -Ace-
ColinF
To your original question yes you can use a regular compressor with your A/B. You need a good pressure regulator and a moisture trap (which you probably already have) a large tank will actually help the A/B to perform better because there is no pulse as the air comes through the gun.
