treeslayer
I'm making a bed with panels that float and i always use dewed shellac before inserting the panels, is varathane wood conditioner the same thing, and can i put ARS over it after it dries? I'm asking because i am out of shellac but have the wood conditioner as mentioned. the web site is no help as it states the wood conditioner is modified alkyd and mineral spirits, its got me thinking its not the same thing and i should just go buy some shellac, thanks for the help guys. treeslayer
thats a good idea Mike thanks, what i was looking for was something that would dry fast so i can get on with assembly, thinned ARS just might do it.
AceHoleInOne
Get the shellac and rock on. The "wood conditioner" may swell the end-grain and make assembly more stressful. Unless you have time to kill and wait for the wood conditioner to fully dry. -Ace-
Coop
Whoa Dave, we've been hearing about this bed for quiet some time and you're already at the finishing stage! Why no journal?
treeslayer
sorry Coop my bad, i just wanted to knock this thing out and get back to installing the rest of the hardwood floor in the upstairs. there will be a walnut bed of similar design next and i'll journal that one for sure.
